Shoulder to Shoulder
This is such a simple, easy look that mum is wearing but one that I believe to be chic and stylish. There are notable elements to this look though that make it so. Firstly, the trench coat is long and cut oversized. Immediately this adds a modern edge. The white jeans are wide-leg and have the perfect amount of ‘bunch’ at the hem. The trend led cut of both these elements give the outfit a modern look. The glasses are bold and confident and add a coolness, as do the Adidas trainers. It is these elements which allow the scarf over the shoulders to work. Without them, you are in dangerous ‘Queen mum’ territory. Instead, the scarf adds an incredibly chic vibe to an otherwise very simple outfit.
NB, the striped top that mum is wearing is from Uniqlo and represents the best quality to price Breton that I have come across.
The looser cut, straight leg jean is the style at the moment. All the stalwarts of the high street have added a full length, straight leg jean to their collections. Although I am someone that advocates spending money on jeans (if you wear them frequently like me), I have been extremely impressed with Zara’s offering recently. The pair that I am wearing here are from Zara and fit extremely well and are made from a lovely, weighty denim.
The other item on every fashion girl’s list at the moment is an Adidas trainer. The ‘Samba’ is the style that the brand can’t restock fast enough but also the ‘Gazelles’, the ‘Jeans’ and the ‘Handball Spezials’ are the ones to look out for. Please remember, cool trainers are for everyone, at any age! It’s a very easy - comfortable - way of keeping your outfit looking contemporary and cool.
