PLÜMO X GRAHAM ST.

Last time we teamed up with Plümo I talked about wearing coloured tights with a dress, so here we are demonstrating just that! Mum’s bright red tights add a pop of colour in an otherwise monochromatic outfit. They didn’t need to be red, they could have been almost any other colour but red is what we plumped for this time. The tights add personality to the look but they are an inexpensive way of doing it. It is often small tweaks that can make a big difference.

Last time, I also suggested wearing a turtleneck under a dress in order to take it from one season to the next- et voilà! With this particular black and white gingham dress we could have chosen a coloured turtleneck top but if that were the case, then we would have kept the tights neutral.

N.B. A turtleneck works brilliantly under a shirt too.

This post serves as a mission to bring brooches back. When I was prepping for this shoot I noticed all these beautiful brooches that Plümo are stocking. They are so delicate and sweet and reminded me of my granny and how she used to wear them. They have generally fallen out of fashion but it’s such a shame as the right brooch can add something so really special to an outfit. I wouldn’t be surprised if many of you have inherited a brooch that you never wear…..now is the time to dig them out and show them some love this festive season! If you don’t have anything at home, take a look at Plümo’s offering as their selection of beaded flowers is adorable.

The jacket I am wearing is clever because it gives the impression of a waxed jacket but is in fact an incredibly soft cotton. It has a duvet-like quality and can be washed at 30 degrees - hurrah! I have layered it with a navy blue cardigan which is also incredibly soft (there is a theme emerging here) with a frill on the collar and cuffs. It is details like this which draw my attention to a garment. It also has interesting spacing between the buttons - sewn in pairs at wide intervals. The shape is quite boxy so it’s perfect for wearing with over sized shirts like this sky blue one. As we all know by now, I love a roomy shirt - particularly in pale blue!

I think that pale blue and pea green is such a gorgeous combination. There is a something about the two colours paired together which brings out the best in each shade….much like a good marriage! ha!

Although I love a coloured sock, there are some times when an outfit can be anchored with a dark one. It also allows the shoes to shine! I love these moccasins, they are quite masculine in design but the tapered front gives them a feminine quality.

N.B. I wore them all day and were extremely comfortable!

For our shoot, we based ourselves at the Durrants Hotel in London’s Marylebone village. It could not be more central and yet inside, it has the feeling that you are residing in the countryside. It is so cosy and completely unpretentious for a central London hotel. It has been family owned for five generations and this is tangible in the warm and friendly atmosphere, the staff honestly could not have been nicer or more helpful. We also had lunch there. Alex and I had beetroot soup and mum had an egg sandwich on squishy white bread (with the crusts cut off) and we shared a big bowl of chips. It was delicious! You know the kitchen is good when the simple things taste great…. if you live out of town or abroad then I would look them up.
