I am such a fan of high waisted trousers. They are elegant and chic and because the length of the trouser is from the waist to the foot rather than the hip, this elongates the leg. We both particularly love this pair by K&T at Label MIx. They are a cotton and wool mix so surprisingly soft and not itchy but heavy in weight so they hang beautifully. I should mention that because the fabric is quite thick, these trousers are a tad bulky around the tummy area. If this is an area that you feel particularly self conscience about, then you might want to try before you buy… they are cut beautifully though so don’t necessarily rule them out.

We have kept the look simple with a charcoal grey jumper (this is the one that I was wearing in last week’s post). You could of course add a pop of colour too. Red, pale pink, pale blue and any shade of green would look great.

For the daytime, a trainer or plimsole work perfectly with these trousers. Mum is wearing a high top trainer by Superga. Don’t be afraid to go for a high top if you’re past 30 - they’re not just for the kids! They work so well under jeans, particularly if the jeans are slightly cropped. For the evening a ballet pump would be perfect, or a heeled ankle boot would be very elegant.

Particularly since having two children (and things aren’t quite as taught as they used to be) I love high waisted denim. The material is thick and strong, giving you support in all the right areas. As the 70s style jean is back, there are so many great high waisted pairs to be found (and not just in big bell bottoms). This pair by Whistles are very comfortable and are nicely tapered on the leg. They do have a frayed edge at the waist which isn’t for everyone. If this includes you then a nice alternative are the Massimo Dutti pair that we featured in this week’s Sunday Scroll.

I don’t want to talk about this specific jumper as I have just discovered that it no longer available online. Let’s talk about the idea instead. As I have mentioned before, this blog is certainly not all about buy buy buy anyway, I hope that it provides inspiration and hopefully encourages you to find similar alternatives in your current wardrobe. All shades of green are in at the moment. As I have mentioned before, it is a colour that the designers are loving. So if you have a green item in your wardrobe which hasn’t seen the light of day for a while, now is the time!

With high waisted jeans, tuck your tops in or choose styles that are cut slightly cropped, for a super contemporary feel. Like the lovely balloon sleeves on this jumper, statement sleeves are also enjoying a moment - so dig out that blouson blouse ladies and wear with pride!
