~Bridging fashions gap~
I have been a stylist for over 10 years and there is something that has been niggling at me for a while now. Whilst the British high street is absolutely fantastic at providing an exciting array of fashion, retailers and advertisers alike seem to be ignoring a huge sector of the female population; women over 30 and beyond….way beyond.
I'm a firm believer that it’s not so much about what you wear, as how your wear it.
So here I am, and here is my mum. I am in my 30s and my mum is in her 60s. As a stylist I have very much chosen to be behind the camera and my mother is certainly not someone to jump in front of a lens (kicking and screaming would be a more accurate description of her journey into the limelight). However, in order to explore this relatively unchartered water of fashion-past-your 30s, we are here, in front of the camera, bringing to you our pick of fashion. A fashion that does not require your midriff or lower butt cheeks to be teeny, tiny, taught and out.
I should probably note however that this is not about helping women to look 30 when they're 60 or 19 when they're 30, this is about an edit of fashion that provides inspiration for all women at any age. I spend half my life in the shops, wading through rails of clothes for my celebrity clients and it's here that I would like to share with you the pieces that catch my eye, and present them in such a way that age is inconsequential.
The generation gap in fashion is closing. Let's all just enjoy it for what it is - the frilly part of the necessity to clothe yourself each day.
