And relax

And relax

There is nothing more chic than a two-piece in summer. Relaxed and easy but also put-together. This one that mum is wearing is from Beaumont Organic but sadly the top has sold out. It is, however, still available in this pecan colour which I think is stunning. With hindsight it might have been a better colour on mum but there is something so elegant about a very pale stone, particularly in summer. The drawstring allows you to wear the top as cinched in or as loose as you like, depending on your taste and the linen is of a beautiful quality. Of course, both pieces could be worn separately too. The pecan top would look fantastic with black wide leg linen trousers and gold jewellery.

We have kept things simple with tan suede ballet pumps and the little straw bag but a splash of orangey red would look lovely with the stone. These are great.

I adore these blue linen trousers. They are very much up my street. Easy, relaxed tailoring with some structure but essentially comfortable and laid back. They are made and designed by Maison Hotel but this particular pair are from The Mercantile London, a great boutique in Shoreditch. Unfortunately this particular colour way has sold out on their site - sorry! - however this pretty ‘framboise’ is still available in small (I am wearing a small). The lovely girls in Mercantile said that it is a style that Maison Hotel create every year.

N.B. I love the length of the trousers on me but for practicalities sake I would need to have them taken up by about an inch. I am just under 5.6”.

An outfit doesn’t need to be complicated to be effective. Sometimes just two interesting colours paired together is enough. The reason that this particular combination works well is because both colours are muted. As a rule I don’t like red and blue together (unless it’s on the Union Jack and then I think that it’s quite effective) but the t-shirt is brick and the blue is washed out lending a subtlety to the combination.

A bag, also in brick, is the pièce de résistance - though I do say so myself! Oh, and i’ve thrown in a little bit of leopard print, just for good measure.
