Ciao Chino
Whilst the world feels like a very strange place at the moment, let’s lighten the mood a little and talk about….clothes! For the Summer, I would argue that one of the most wearable pieces of clothing that you can have in your wardrobe is a great pair of chinos. They’re much more breathable than jeans and easily as versatile / comfy. My bug bare with many of the high street offerings is that their waistline is cut on the hips - it is so much more flattering and chic to have a high waist. This pair by COS aren’t super high waisted - when compared with those we wore in this post (The Tourist) - but they are still better than most. The tapered leg and the slightly cropped leg length are also extremely flattering. Here mum is wearing socks and ankle boots but sandals/Birkenstocks or a pump (e.g. Superga’s) would look great as the weather warms up.
This cotton coat is absolutely lovely. It’s a heavy weight cotton, offering some warmth and hangs beautifully. It is of course a brave woman that heads out in a white coat but hey, if you haven’t got small children to ferry around, then why not?! There is something so incredibly chic about a coat and matching trousers. However, if like me, you do have rug rats with sticky fingers then this coat does also come in khaki green and would be a good match for this short-sleeved jumper which is another simple hack to looking striking and chic. Match the colour of your jumper to the colour of your coat. I’m sure that many of you will have a navy blue or black coat - throw a navy blue or black jumper underneath and you’ll be looking as Parisian as the best of them ;)
I think that I may have said this before but I honestly can’t think of a single complexion that this particular shade of blue wouldn’t look good on. It’s a really pretty fit too, slightly cropped so that it sits on the waist. You would of course want to wear it with trousers or a skirt that are high waisted. It would look lovely over a dress too. If you didn’t want to have your chest showing then a simple white t-shirt and a silk neck scarf that picks out the blue (e.g. this one) would look brilliant.
The chinos are slightly looser on me as mum and I are wearing the same pair but we are a dress size apart. I think that they are designed to be worn a little looser so if you would like a more fitted look, then I would be tempted to size down.
