I mentioned in our last blog post that we have been doing some work with Anthropologie. They recently got in touch to see whether we would like to collaborate with them to produce a shoot showcasing our favourite pieces from their A/W collection. We were excited to get started on this project as, over the years, Mum and I have shopped in Anthropologie alot.

For our shoot we decided to head to Norfolk. Alex, mum and I love Norfolk and the colours at this time of year are washed out and perfect. In addition to our usual party of three, we had my husband, father and two little girls….Matilda and Eliza. We were a lively bunch, if a little motley. Half our gang had fishing nets and a bucket, the other half had a camera and outfit changes.

It is a bumper post this week! Below are three outfits and next week we will post the last two.

First up, mum chose this classic beige Crombie coat - a wardrobe staple. Often with a classic coat like this, people gravitate to navy or black but actually camel is just as versatile. A Crombie will never date, it will last season after season. A great investment piece. It is not uncommon for coats at this price point to be made mainly from synthetic fibres, however, this one is 100% wool meaning that it will be warm as well as stylish.

We have paired the camel Crombie with a matching polo neck. This is a simple hack to chic dressing. Wearing the same coloured coat to jumper always looks striking. This particular jumper is fantastic as it has a really high neck that stays upright. As regular Graham St followers will know, we are not fans or a short neck or a droopy one!

To break up the beige, Mum is wearing cream jeans which lifts the outfit, keeping it fresh and modern.

I was immediately drawn to the colour of this jumpsuit, and I am yet to find someone that it does not suit! Whether you’re blonde, brunette or a redhead, this particular shade of blue always brings out the colour in people’s complexion.

I said that you would be seeing more corduroy from us and as promised, here it is! Corduroy is a huge trend for A/W19. We often think of corduroy in browns and beige’s so to see it in a bright blue hue is very striking.

I have been a fan of a jumpsuit for years. Not only do they look cool but they’re so easy to wear. For the colder months they look good with a fitted polo neck underneath and for summer, with a t-shirt (a Bretton top looks cool). There is a tendency for women to think that jumpsuits are just for a younger audience but I completely disagree, they look great on all ages!

When we lived in America during the late 80s, everyone wore Sorel boots for the winter. The snow would sometimes be waist deep and so people needed good quality footwear and this is the brand that they chose. Twenty years on (and presumably 20 years more practice by Sorel) I can say with confidence that aside from the great design, these boots are warm.

This jumper is 90% wool and 10% cashmere and mum can attest to its warmth! The day that we shot this, it was very cold with a biting breeze. Not only is it a great colour, but its boxy shape is the perfect length for loosely tucking into high-waisted jeans.

Since the shoot, I have commandeered this jumper from mum and basically not taken it off since.

These jeans are incredibly flattering. They are good quality, with enough structure to hold you in, but enough stretch so to make them extremely comfortable. They have a slim, tapered leg and are cut just above the ankle.

Walking boots are the style of the season. The trend has taken its reference from old fashioned hiking boots that your parents or grandparents might have worn. This pair is the perfect mix between practical and trend led. They would look as ‘at home’ walking down the high street as they would on a wet and windy beach.

As I’m sure most of you know, we love a bit of tonal dressing. It is a simple way of achieving a stylish look. This coat is a nod to one of the biggest coat trends for this winter – the Teddy coat. The A/W19 catwalks were awash with these fluffy creations, from MaxMara to Celine, everyone was getting in on the trend. This particular coat is a lovely example as not only does it look great but it is easy to wear. Thrown over jeans and a jumper, it immediately makes the outfit look put-together.

Heritage prints and designs are also a big trend for A/W19 so this cream, cable knit jumper is perfect. However, although it would be considered a trend-led piece, its roots are based in tradition and therefore it is a timeless piece that would last for years.

I have paired the jumper and coat with the same high-waisted jeans that mum has been wearing, demonstrating how ageless they are. I tend to roll up the bottom of my jeans but mum prefers to wear them full length.

The blanket that I have around my shoulders is actually a beautiful piece form Anthropologie homeware but it worked perfectly as an over-sized shawl.

A very stylish take on an incredibly practical coat, this puffa would be as suitable for walking the dog as it would be for shopping in the city. Many puffa coats are either short or knee length but this one is cut almost to the ankle ensuring it looks chic as well as being warm!

The khaki green gives it a cool edge and the poppers running from the bottom are a fantastic design detail, as are the extended elasticated cuffs.

These jeans are another example of good design. They are looser in the leg than the previous pair that mum was wearing and therefore look more casual. But like the Citizens of Humanity pair, they are good quality and high-waisted ensuring a flattering silhouette.

This leopard print necktie is such a great way of adding a touch of interest to a simple outfit. They can also help tie-in different colours within your outfit. The neck scarf is tucked into the cable knit jumper that I was wearing in the previous post.

Another jumpsuit! Something that I particularly love in life is a jumpsuit. What is great about this boiler suit is that it is, once again, high-waisted. For some people, most boiler suits are too androgynous in style but the high waist and belt tie provides a much more feminine silhouette than most. It also lends itself to being worn with a variety of different coats - it would look great with any of the ones that we wore for this shoot – the Crombie for a smarter look and the Teddy coat for a more casual one.
