Boring Beige

It was this coat that first caught my eye. It’s so cool. Like a raincoat in style but made from a heavy fabric so unlike a raincoat, it would be suitable for Winter. It is by Modern Rarity which is also where the coat mum wore last week was from. It is an over-sized cut so if you prefer a more tailored fit then I would suggest sizing down. Mum is usually a 10 but she is wearing an 8 and as you can see, it is still a generous fit.

As we often do at Graham St, this week we have kept things tonal. It is such a simple hack to looking chic with minimal effort. Choose one colour palette and dress within tones of that palette. So here we have oatmeal, a much paler tone of oatmeal and off white. Equally, tones of camel, or cream and white or indeed navy and black - these are all combinations that look incredibly chic.

Annoyingly, I completely forgot to get a picture of the sleeves on this jumper. It is a shame as it has balloon sleeves in a contrasting cable knit to the front. I have linked it here so that you can see.

We have recently done some work with Anthropologie and they gifted us a few items of clothing. These jeans were part of mum’s selection. They are expensive but as I always say, if you are someone that likes to wear jeans, then your cost per wear will become very good. The more you spend, the better the quality of the denim and therefore the more likely they are to hold their shape and hold you in! I would always go for a high-waisted jean these days and so would mum. They are much more flattering. This pair are by Agolde (a sustainable, LA based brand) but Levi’s do a similar style which they call the ‘Ribcage’ and are less expensive.

Below, mum is holding the most fantastic handbag. It is by John Lewis & Partners and I was bowled over by the quality and style for the price. It has the look of a designer handbag but at £99 it is a fraction of the cost. Also, I noticed that they were doing 20% off all handbags the other day which would make it £79.20 so promotions are definitely worth looking out for. Burgundy is such a versatile colour for accessories. Both shoes and handbags in this colour will go with most outfits. My burgundy brogues I wear ALL the time, they have been one of my best ever purchases.

As I have mentioned before, wearing all one colour is a ‘thing’ right now. And in my case, wearing almost all one colour. This is a ‘bib’ by a Graham St favourite - Arket. I can imagine that this top is not for everyone as it doesn’t serve any great purpose other than its aesthetic appeal. I like it as an interesting variant for winter dressing and it could be worn with a tight polo neck as well as a long shirt. These trousers might be of more interest to a lot of you as they are great as a smarter trouser for winter. Made from wool but with a small amount of elastane, they are very comfortable. They are high waisted and full length! - which is a rarity on the high street at the moment. Basically, they are a classic cut which would see you through season after season….
