Anthropologie X Graham St

Anthropologie X Graham St

Hello! Happy Sunday and for those of you that are celebrating Mother’s Day, I hope that it has been a good one. For me, it meant an extra 15 minutes in bed - i’ll take that. So, Anthropologie kindly asked us to contribute to their Mother’s Day content. We have chosen our favourite pieces from their current collection and put them together as we would wear them. Anthropologie is such a great place to find clothes that you wouldn’t necessarily find everywhere else. When we last worked with the brand (2 years ago now!) mum wore a heavily patterned skirt as part of an outfit (this one). On her own, she wouldn’t have necessarily gravitated towards it but she wears it a lot now for smarter occasions and receives compliments every time. It’s so unusual. Anthropologie are great for that.

However, for this particular shoot we decided to keep it paired back and casual as we knew that we would be pounding the streets of St Albans and we wanted to be comfortable - always key!

In my opinion, there is nothing more chic than tones of cream, beige and white together. This is the palette that we stuck to for mum’s outfit. It’s actually a great formula for dressing in an understated, yet chic way. Conversely, I went for the - uniform of cowboys - double denim, with a classic trench coat. I was also road testing an item of clothing that I have not worn for a very long time - the flared jean. I was reminded of how flattering a flared trouser is. This pair have a lot of stretch in them so are extremely comfortable.

The striped knitwear that mum is wearing is actually a vest - we appear to have quite the penchant for knitted vests at the moment. I’d be inclined to say that it is the perfect trans-seasonal garment.

Socks and sandals, a divisive choice but if nothing else, an extremely practical one. Have you ever tried it? Honestly, it is the most comfortable combination! I dare you.

So Birkenstocks have been popular for a very long time now (they were founded in 1744). I live in them over the summer, but usually the two strap and thong style. This is the first time that I have worn the clog and I absolutely love them. I think that they look great and are super comfy. I should probably caveat that though - mum tried them on and didn’t find them comfortable, but she does wear other styles of Birkenstocks, so maybe try before you buy (so to speak).

NB Can also be worn without socks.

Public service announcement! Blazers are being worn over-sized and are longer again in length (think 80’s) and chunky gold necklaces are a ‘thing’. I love this outfit that mum is wearing. It’s simple, comfortable and chic - oh, and I believe that it would be considered ‘smart/casual’ so for anyone in the market for that dreaded category of outfit - then look no further.
