Hi everyone! This week’s blog is an extension of the previous post. We are both wearing the same trousers and mum is also wearing the same polo neck. So what’s the twist?

By choosing an over-sized shirt, the same trousers achieve a completely different look. With mum we have tucked the shirt in for a high waisted silhouette. I am wearing the same stripy shirt, but untucked with an over-sized jumper to boot and have folded up the bottom of the trousers. If you’re embracing the over-sized, in order to not look swamped in fabric, showing some ankle / wrist will punctuate the look.

To accessorise, a gold chain - either worn short and over the polo neck (but under the shirt) or long over the shirt - would look great. As would chunkier gold earrings and a slim belt with a gold buckle (like this). Dig out your 80’s bling.

Mum and I have spoken frequently about our love of Toast jackets, and in particular this boxy-fit style. Toast do something similar every season. These jackets (or indeed any simple jacket like this one) are perfect for throwing over an outfit to make it look more considered.

Here, this denim workwear jacket has pulled together mum’s look beautifully. I like the way the buttons pick up the colour of her trousers. If it was a particularly brisk day then I’d throw on a beige trench coat (like this one). Layering is what it’s all about.

And for footwear, mum is in navy blue suede pumps to tie in with her navy denim jacket. Should you want a more casual look then trainers would work. Or, for a more formal vibe, try a leather loafer like these.

A chunky navy blue jumper is a wardrobe staple in my opinion. This one is from Arket and is a new addition to my wardrobe. I particularly like the long side vents which makes wearing long shirts underneath very easy and pleasing to the eye.

Clogs are back! In all their different guises but I particularly love the Birkenstock style (called the Boston). They look brilliant with trousers and happen to be pretty comfy too.
