AUTUMN

AUTUMN

We have been on the hunt for a great pair of black tailored trousers for a long time. Finally, we have found them! This pair are by a relatively new brand called Aligne. For the quality and fit, at £80 I would say that they are very good value. The pair are mindfully made from recycled polyester which is incredible as they feel and look so much more luxurious than that sounds and they are machine washable - bonus.

Mum has had these gold earrings since the late 80s and wore them to a wedding in Paris. She bought them on the advice of an Editor from Vogue, having coincidentally met her prior to the big day (helpful). When asked what Mum should be wearing, the editor replied ‘BIG earrings’, and that is exactly what she did. She wore them with a wide brimmed red hat, and a matching red and white polka dot dress. I’ve seen the photos, she looked sensational. 30 plus years later and here are the earrings again….so what should we all be wearing this season? BIG earrings. Dig out your best 80s jewels ladies, it’s time for another outing.

This trench coat is another gem from Aligne. They call the colour ‘mustang’ on the website, I would describe it as a very dark burgundy/plum. It is almost identical in colour to the this top by Plumo. Any variations in colour between the two pieces are forgiven by the contrast in fabric and texture (a neat trick). It is sometimes quite hard to find unusual colours on the high street so if you do, I would snap them up.

The neck scarf to the top is detachable, should you not want to wear it or tie in differently - a pussy bow could look lovely as an alternative.

As soon as I saw this skirt, it was love at first sight. I wanted to show you how to wear it in a more casual way. Obviously it would be fabulous for a party (the festive season will be upon us before we know it!) but, when buying something new, it is so important to think of lots of ways of wearing your new purchase. So here we have a boxy wool jumper from Arket. It is an incredibly versatile shape as it would fit a shirt underneath very neatly. Sometimes the unexpected is what makes an outfit particularly special. This ‘party’ skirt worn with the casual jumper and winter coat works so well.

For the evening, a silk blouse or a sequin top would look incredible and don’t think that a tutu is just for the ‘young ones’, this skirt would look great at any age.

The scarf is from a lovely little brand called The Tartan Blanket Co. I was first introduced to it by my sister in law who gave both my daughters the most gorgeous scarves with their names embroidered onto the bottom. This is a service that the brand provide, making them a wonderful place to buy gifts.

The tartan of the scarf is MacLeod! Obviously I had to have it.
