As I am sure you can imagine, this week’s outfits are inspired by the waistcoat that mum is wearing. Made from the off-cuts of blankets, each one is completely unique. They’re made from durable, slightly felted, hand woven 2-ply wool in colour combinations that are heavenly. The blankets are woven in Rudrapur, India and made just around the corner from me in Hertfordshire. Funnily enough, I had come across Indigowears through the powers of the instagram algorithms but it wasn’t until its founder, Lisa, and I started messaging, that we discovered that we lived just down the road from each other! There is a lovely little piece on her website, introducing the team behind these wonderful garments.

Obviously the waistcoats (and full sleeve jackets) can be worn on their own, but I also love the look of the beautiful colours poking out from under a more neutral coat. Mum is in a M/L (as that was the only size left) but an XS/S would probably have fitted slightly better (she is a UK10).

If you’re not someone who wears a lot of colour but you fancy wearing a bit more, this type of fine knit turtleneck top that mum is wearing, is a great place to start. I think that it was COS that first introduced this particular style but since then, other brands have caught on and now they are quite easy to find in a myriad of colours. Orange and red are good as they are hues that beautifully compliment the neutral tones - from navy and grey to oatmeal and beige.

As an aside, I have included a lovely lemon yellow turtleneck in the shopping edit this week and I have noticed that Sézane have brought out their best selling Gaspard cardigan in pale yellow (also in the Style Edit) which would look incredibly striking with the aforementioned lemon turtleneck.

I absolutely love a boiler suit. I feel comfortable, and I feel like myself. The ones that I own go straight up and down but this one is more flattering, in the traditional sense, as it has a nipped in waist. In real life it actually looks surprisingly chic. You could wear a loafer or a heeled boot and it would be perfect for going out for dinner. Maybe without the shirt underneath, some gold jewellery and a little boxy jacket, or a blazer.

Also in the Style Edit (can you tell that I am getting excited again for the new season!) is a pillow-like bag from M&S. It is in khaki green and would look SO COOL worn with this jumpsuit. M&S bags are really having a moment. I have bought myself this one and I have my eye on this one.

I adore the shoes that mum is wearing here. I just think that they are wonderful and slightly different from what you would usually see on the high street. They’d work in the summer with a skirt and no socks but - assuming it’s not raining!- you could wear them now too. They’re really comfortable! Call me bonkers, but I feel like they’re the sort of shoe that would make you look interesting to talk to! Can a shoe do that? In my world they can! Wink wink.
