Blue Skies

Blue skies ahead, hopefully! So with that in mind, we are wearing our favourite colour this week - blue! I saw the knitted waistcoat at the TOAST press day (an event held to showcase their next season’s collection to press) a while ago and earmarked it then. The colours are wonderful! In a climate where it can often feel difficult to find unique pieces, this waistcoat felt just that, unique. Perfect for now under other layers to add interest and colour, or over a t-shirt as the weather warms up. It represents a trans-seasonal garment. Particularly useful if, like us, you wear a lot of blues, greens and earthy colours that the waistcoat would sit very happily with.
I really like this slightly cropped navy blue jacket too. As you can see from the pictures, it works well with both of our outfits. A versatile little jacket is such a useful piece to have in your wardrobe. A piece that elevates an otherwise simple look into something more ‘put together’. I particularly love a double faced wool fabric. It offers warmth without bulk and wears extremely well. Unlike other wool fabrics it doesn’t seem to bobble at all, meaning that the garment remains looking as new and smart as the day it was bought.
The scarf is a MacLeod tartan which, given our surname, is very apt! I love this particular tartan, I think that the colours are gorgeous together.
N.B. Mum is a UK10 and is wearing a 10 in these corduroy trousers but it turns out that the 8 would have fitted her better I think. It depends a bit on how you like your fit.
I love this cardigan, a little gem from John Lewis. It makes me happy to see John Lewis producing tasteful, well priced clothes. Their own label is generally very good and worth keeping an eye on. I’m wearing a white t-shirt here but I would love to see this cardigan worn with a dark blue and white striped shirt too.
The cords are a really great cut. They have a slight barrel shape to them but not crazily so, a flattering high waist and full length leg. They come up big. I am a UK8/10 and I am wearing the 8 but actually the 6 would have fitted better. Mum fits the 8 perfectly and she is a UK10.
My latest find are these trainers by Adidas. They are the ‘Japan’ style and I cannot recommend them enough - they are SO comfortable! It’s like wearing a pair of gloves on your feet. They don’t offer a huge amount of support though so that’s worth bearing in mind if you need a more structured, supportive shoe.
