a blanket approach

This colourful waistcoat is by the lovely Indigowares. Each piece is one of a kind, made from the off cuts of 100% handwoven wool blankets. Mum has worn one of their beautiful wool jackets before (click link). As you can see from both looks, the colours in each piece determine the other colours in the outfit beautifully making pairing everything together quite simple.

As you may know by now, we love jackets (and waistcoats) that create a striking look without a huge amount of effort. We particularly love garments that work in this way and provide a functional purpose too. In the case of these, it’s warmth!

Brown is a very big colour for this season and the combination of brown and pink is one that I love. I first saw this quilted jacket in-store. It serves as a good reminder to me that nothing beats getting into the shops and seeing things ‘in the flesh’. I’m not sure that I would have given this coat much notice online but in the shop it jumped out at me. The colour is gorgeous, the shape is slightly unusual for a puffer jacket and the wavy quilted pattern is striking. The perfect jacket to take you into spring! Also a beautiful colour to poke out from under a darker coat in winter.

Matching your scarf to your coat is always a chic thing to do. Simple to achieve and eye catching - win, win. I should mention as well, it doesn’t need to be a bright colour, it could be navy with navy, black with black or grey with grey.

I love a baggy, low slung jean - it’s the 90’s teenager in me! This particular pair comes up BIG. They’re obviously supposed to be over-sized but I would still recommend sizing down. They’re also long, I am 5.6” and I couldn’t wear them wih flats without having them taken up an inch or two. The overall fit is perfect though if you like this particular aestheic. It has to be said, Zara do denim well.
