The hero piece of this week’s blog post is this boxy cream denim jacket, it demonstrates so well how a jacket can complete an outfit and it’s such an incredibly easy way to achieve this. Off-white is also a great colour for this time of year as it tends to go with most outfits, and when wearing a jacket, it doesn’t look too heavy or wintery - dragging an otherwise light and summery outfit down.

I love pale blue as a foil to more vibrant colours. Look at the way the bright red sings against my blouse. I find it so satisfying! Shades of green, yellow or pink would work equally well too.

This week’s post is turning out to be a series of ‘notes’ but hey, here we are. Notice that I have rolled the sleeves of my blouse and partially tucked it in. Tweaking what you are wearing is all part of the styling process and helps to make the look more ‘you’. Tucking, rolling, folding, cinching, play around in front of the mirror and see whether any of these things can bring new life to an outfit. Choose a quiet moment, put the music on, and have fun! It’s about finding personality in what you are wearing. I love a slightly messy, undone look for example, but mum would never half tuck her shirt in - no no! But she loves a rolled sleeve!

Usually we would roll a neckscarf from the corner of the square into the middle (starting with a diamond shape) but here we have rolled it as a square from flat side to flat side and then tied once at the front. It creates this quite satisfying poofy little shape. Did any of that make sense?!

I don’t talk a lot about the cost of things on here because budgets and what we are willing and able to spend on clothes is so incredibly personal. But what I will say is, if you have the budget for these trousers, they are a beautiful pair. The slightly flecked denim colour in 100% linen makes them incredibly versatile as a summer trouser. They also have a built-in belt which helps with adjusting them to your individual shape, allowing for a really lovely, neat waistline.

Two last ‘notes’ from me. Firstly, these little Mary Jane shoes in suede. I adore them. They’re such a flattering shape. I found them to be very comfortable too. Tan suede accessories, particularly in summer, are versatile and useful for pairing with light fabrics and colours.

The other thing is that I have seen this pleated skirt worn sized up so that it sits on the hips rather than the waist and that looks great too! The skirt is really full so it feels beautiful to wear.

And that’s it from me, enjoy your weekend, hopefully the sun is shining wherever you are!
