Skirting the issue
What a great a skirt. Bold stripes in a good quality cotton in a flattering shape and length. As I’ve said before, I love a stripe so this skirt appeals to me a lot. Although cotton, it could be worn in the Summer and the Winter.
Mum is wearing it with the jersey Whistles jacket that she has worn before -proving just how versatile it is. If you’re going to spend a bit of money on something, then I am firm believer that you want to get your money’s worth. It’s no good only being able to wear it with one specific skirt, it needs to work for its space in your wardrobe.
Mum is wearing a round neck wool jumper from COS. I believe a round neck navy or black jumper is a staple for everyone’s wardrobe. So versatile and easy to wear, smart or casual. COS do a good one most seasons and M&S too.
I like the simplicity of wearing one colour with the stripy skirt. It’s simple but striking. Paired with thick navy tights and the Toast suede boots and you have yourself a winner. The chunky boots just add an edge to the outfit but it would look equally good with a pair of Chelsea boots or loafers.
Just a pop of colour with this orange bag adds a point of interest, especially if you’re someone who would prefer to have some colour in your outfit.
Im almost wearing the same outfit as mum but I am wearing socks from COS and a pair of much-loved tan brogues. Ankle socks with shoes and a skirt is an acquired look, one which I love but totally get it if you don’t. Maybe, being an 80s kid, it’s in the blood. Bare legs and sandals would look equally lovely, as would pumps.
