I am really impressed with the quality of Jigsaw’s denim. Denim can be one of the most flattering materials to wear as it’s thick and strong. It has the potential to hold you in in all the right places and smooth over any lumps and bumps! I have said this before, but if you are someone that wears a lot of denim, this is an area of your wardrobe to invest in. At £90-£95 for a pair of jeans, Jigsaw’s prices represent a mid point in the market but I think that the quality of their denim matches that of the higher end.

Mum wasn’t sure when I showed her this cream - CREAM - denim jumpsuit….(there is a pattern emerging here). She loved it, but couldn’t see herself in it for two reasons - 1, her age and 2, her personal style. I was determined to dispel both these thoughts. Firstly, I don’t think that a fitted jumpsuit is the reserve of someone in their twenties and secondly, by adding a cream turtleneck, chunky pearls and a beautifully tailored coat, we have created an overall ‘look’ that is mum.

Whether you are someone that is going to wear a fitted jumpsuit or not, what I am trying to do is challenge any pre- conceived ideas of what you ‘should’ or ‘should not’ be wearing. Clothes are SO much more fun when we throw away the shackles of expectation. With last week’s post and this week’s - enough said!

P.S. If you are keen to try (YES!) but cream is daunting, dark denim or black could be a good place to start. Also, adding some tailoring in the form of a little boxy jacket or a sharp blazer could work extremely well.

These jeans fit like a glove. They are high-waisted (Jigsaw label them ‘mid-rise’ but I found them to be high rise and I have a long body) and lightly curve around the bum and thigh area which is very flattering. It’s difficult to see from the pictures but they also have an interesting design detail around the knee. a subtle inserted panel. They come up quite long, for reference I am 5.6” and I am wearing a heeled boot. Wide leg jeans are back so if you have some favourite pairs from the 90’s, lurking in the back of a cupboard, then now’s the time to dig them out!

This fisherman style jumper has gone into the sale and at £70 it represents fantastic value. It is made from 100% lambswool, spun in Yorkshire and made in Portugal. Jigsaw call it ‘supersoft’, I can vouch for its super softness. We are - supposedly - moving into the warmer months but in my opinion, this wool jumper represents such good value that I would consider investing for next Winter…. and let’s face it, there are many summer’s evenings in the UK that require a warm jumper at the ready.

If you are looking for an area of your wardrobe to pull back on with spending, shirting would be a good place to start in my opinion. You can pick up some gems on the high street, from Uniqlo (this stripy one for example) to Zara, Gap to Mango, you can find an array of great shirts in lots of different cuts, colours and patterns.

I have been told that Zara shirts are not built to last as they use very cheap thread to sew the pieces together, but I have had Zara shirts in my wardrobe for years and they still look good. If you’re buying a shirt online then always look at its composition. This will provide a much better idea of how it will be in real life - you are looking for a high percentage of natural fibres.
