Mint Choc Chip

Mint Choc Chip

I think that my trousers are the perfect example of something that appears on the brand’s website to be quite a ‘scary’ fashion-forward shape but in reality are much less ‘out there’. When I showed them to mum, her first reaction was, oh Hannah I can’t wear those! Then she tried them on and they looked fab. They’re cleverly cut to hang elegantly on the body. Watch this space, evidence is on its way…! (in the form of mum wearing the trousers).

YMC is an interesting brand because although their imagery and marketing is very much aimed at a young, ‘East London’ style crowd, the clothes themselves are beautifully cut and can fit a more grown up aesthetic too. Sessùn, the brand behind mum’s trousers, is also similar in this respect - only French. The quality and cut of her trousers here are excellent.

N.B. mum is just under 5.8” tall and is wearing flat shoes.

Obviously red socks are a statement here, but they could easily be substituted with navy blue and the trouser hem would fade into your ankle without making a statement. The shoes feel like gloves! They are so comfortable. We absolutely love all the ballet style flats that are around at the moment. Particularly these slightly chunkier interpretations.

When it comes to round neck jumpers, it’s a simple thing, but wearing a white t-shirt underneath adds a fresh and youthful vibe. It also helps the colour of the jumper to pop. This particular mint green cashmere version from Cefinn has buttons that run all the way down the back. It’s such a pretty detail which elevates the jumper into something that could easily be worn out for dinner as well as during the day. We’re seeing a lot of these lovely pastel colours for Spring. So if you have something similar in your wardrobe, it’s time to dig it out!

The trench coat is by John Lewis own label. I have to say, the price to quality ratio is excellent. I think that it looks extremely smart in its simplicity. Bravo John Lewis!
