Maze X Graham St

Mum and I absolutely loved our outfits for this shoot. You know when you’re wearing something that feels simultaneously ‘you’ and you’re physically incredibly comfortable? Well this is how we felt here!
First up, these trousers. If you are a regular follower of GS, you will have already seen us wearing the ‘Deadbeat’ style from YMC. The cut is genius. They’ve somehow managed to create a trouser that is both cool and contemporary and elegant and chic. Mum and I have different styles - mum favours a more classic look and I enjoy a more ‘boyish’ one but both of us feel incredibly comfortable in the Deadbeats.
Mum’s trousers are made from a mid-weight cotton linen twill. They’re perfect for the warmer months but we would wear them in winter too with knitwear and leather boots. Mine are constructed from a similar composition but what doesn’t come up in pictures is that the material has a beautiful sheen to it. In real life the fabric has a visual quality comparable with silk, making them an excellent option for smarter occasions as well as everyday wear. Mum and I both agreed that (assuming you’re ok with wearing off-white to a wedding) my outfit would be suitable for one. With heels, big gold earrings and a clutch bag, you’d be set to go!
Both our tops are equally lovely, mum’s is by the gorgeous Spanish brand Indi & Cold and mine is by the French label Sessùn. The reason that mum’s crocheted vest works so well is the juxtaposition of the vintage inspired fabric with the contemporary cut. We paired it with the softest of t-shirts by Sunray Spirit - a t-shirt made in Japan on an antique knitting machine, designed to keep its shape. The t-shirt is obviously perfect for summer but this vest would also look incredibly chic with a white shirt.
I ADORE my blouse. Similar to mum’s, the reason that this blouse is so successful is the combination of the cool, slightly masculine shape coupled with the incredibly delicate embroidery details and the bow tie front. I am wearing a nude coloured bra underneath. I tried it with a cream cropped top but the beautiful detail of the tie fastenings was lost. If you wanted to wear a camisole (as you can see a little bit of skin through the gaps) then I would suggest finding one that matches your skin tone so that you don’t lose any of the delicate detailing - a cream camisole would be too heavy in my opinion.
Maze is a Bristol based family-run boutique. It isn’t often that I find a shop that houses all of the brands and styles that we like under one roof. Good boutiques take on an aesthetic and buy their collections in accordance with their style. It is why not all multi-label shops will be the perfect fit for you. You need to find the boutique that resonates. Maze is that for us. All their clothes are so beautifully selected, curated in such a way as to be classic and timeless but with a nod to the trends. They also stock those unique, stand out pieces that add interest and uniqueness to a capsule wardrobe.
Based in the heart of Clifton village, if you find yourself in Bristol then a visit to Maze should be on your priority list. I was a student in Bristol so it is a city close to my heart - I certainly wasn’t living in Clifton as a student but I can definitely vouch for its beauty!
