If you’re like us, then you’ll like a sleeve. It’s ridiculous really, we shouldn’t care what the tops of our arms look like but hey, it is what it is, and we often do. There are times, however, when it is so hot that a sleeveless top is called for and in these moments, I would recommend a sleeve like the ones on mum’s dress. Cut to just cap the shoulder and on the diagonal to break up the upper arm, it is an incredibly flattering style. On this particular dress, the inverted triangular shape of the top half, is balanced perfectly with the triangular shape of the skirt, creating a lovely hourglass silhouette.
I’ve mentioned Le Bonne Shoppe t-shirt’s to you before, but for those at the back, I’ll mention them again. I own one of their ‘Jeanne tee’s’ and I am reminded every time that I put it on, of what an incredibly flattering shape it is. The quality is also gorgeous and they are produced in such beautiful and slightly unusual shades. Le Bonne Shoppe is a Californian brand and I feel that the Californians know how to do a good t-shirt.
Sadly, this dress appears to have sold out online. We always struggle with this issue at this time of year as we shoot the looks and then everything goes into the sale! So apologies for this. It might be worth ringing the stores if you really love it. Otherwise my comments above about the cut still stand and hopefully they have provided you with some food for thought.
If the TOAST barrel leg jeans that I am wearing here don’t convince you of this style, then you will never be a convert! The style is not for everyone and that is completely understandable. If you don’t like the look, then you don’t like the look! But if you are intrigued to have a try, then I would recommend this pair. I think that I can honestly say that I have never tried on a pair of jeans that I feel so comfortable in and that feel so flattering. They have the lovely curve of a usual barrel style but the curve is not so exaggerated that they balloon out. The colour is a lovely Ecru which will take you into autumn more easily than white.
Two last comments from me and then I will be off. I have volunteered to do the teachers’ presents for the last day of school so I need to compile the flowers that I have bought into some sort of bouquet….!
Mum and I are in love with the Studio Bowe beaded glasses chain that I am wearing. For the spectacle wearers amongst you, do check them out as they are such fun. The colours are delicious. With the added bonus of not mislaying your glasses of course!
Lastly, these plimsoles by Boden. We lived in America for a while during the end of the 80’s and these years represent happy memories for our family. So many people at that time wore Ked’s - a simple white plimsole with a small blue label at the back of the heel. I owned a white pair that had then been embellished with jewels and hand painted with sparkly paint. They were my prized possession. Ever since then, plimsoles have always held a special place in my heart!
Right, I will be going now to tend to my flower arranging. For any florists amongst you, all tips gratefully received!
