Seersucker

I’m sure you will all know by now we love a stripe but did you know that we also love a seersucker?! So a stripe and a seersucker combined - hurrah! A match made in heaven. We’ve featured a few two-pieces in the last months. I think that they make a very nice alternative to a dress with the added bonus of being able to wear the individual pieces separately. Mum’s shirt and skirt combo makes for such a lovely, relaxed outfit.
I like the juxtaposition of the slightly masculine cut shirt with the feminine style skirt. It keeps the outfit from looking too ‘girly’, something that I know many of us look to avoid as we get older.
Mum would also wear the shirt with white/cream/ecru jeans. Both wide leg or slim and cut on the ankle would look great. You would need to wear it untucked as the front pockets would make it difficult to tuck in.
Both mum and I love a skirt for the summer, there is something so effortlessly chic about wearing a skirt and they are so incredibly comfortable! Until recently I have found it quite difficult to find styles that I like but as of this season, they seem to be in abundance so now would be the time to strike if you too like a summer skirt!
These cotton canvas trousers hold their shape well, creating a flattering silhouette for the wearer. They look just as good worn with a top tucked in, as they do with shirts worn loose. The structure of the fabric also means that they would work perfectly well in winter. I will be wearing mine all year round.
The t-shirt that I am wearing is one of the heavier weight ones (there’s a theme emerging here) from COS. I like the slightly thicker fabric as it looks smarter to me, perfect for a slightly more elevated look. COS and Arket both produce subtle cream t-shirts as well as white. I have found cream to be so useful in recent years. This particular one goes very well with the ecru waistcoat. White would work as well but often It is the small details that lead to a successful outfit.
These fisherman style sandals are incredibly comfortable. I can find that closed sandals often rub but this particular pair does not. I love Ancient Greek for summer sandals. They generally cost more than a lot of other leather sandals but I have always found them to be worth it. I own a classic pair of double-strap brown leather ones that I must have had for 15 years now and they still look good. On the whole a simple sandal will never be in or out of fashion so I think that they are a shoe that you can confidently invest in.
We are taking a break now for the rest of the summer. We will pop back into your inboxes around mid-September, ready to start adding those layers again!
So until then, I hope that you all have a wonderful summer and we look forward to joining you again soon xx
