simple but not boring

For the beady eyed amongst you, in last week’s post you will have noticed that I was wearing a red jumper around my waist. Well, this week it is on my top! I’ve been looking forward to sharing this fine knit red polo neck with you because it represents such a simple wardrobe hack. The little pop of red makes all the difference and will continue to do so all winter long. Under shirts, jumpers, cardigans and dresses, it adds interest to a simple outfit - and has the added bonus of being warm! Uniqlo do a slightly cheaper alternative, it is not as lightweight but it would also work well.
I believe that a blue Oxford shirt is the corner stone to many great outfits as it provides such a sympathetic backdrop to other colours. This one is about 10 years old from Zara, I love its particular hue and cut. I will add current alternatives to today’s Style Edit.
I present to you another bomber jacket! This is SUCH a good one. It fits and has the appearance of a more traditional wool jacket but the ‘bomber’ cut lends a cool, modern edge. It would be a workhorse in anyone’s wardrobe. It looks good over jeans but would also work with a dress or skirt. it represents one of those jackets that I have spoken to you about before, the one that hangs by the front door, ready to elevate jeans and a t-shirt as you run out the house!
What is more perfect than a cable knit jumper for autumn?! This one is by a lovely Spanish brand called L’Envers. They are a female founded business, endeavouring to be 100% sustainable. They are based in Spain and only work with local artisans to make their garments. When you place an order, you will have a 3-4 week wait whilst your piece is being knitted. These cable knit jumpers are made to last a lifetime.
L’Envers also have a keen eye for design. Mum’s jumper is cut slightly more cropped and boxy than a traditional cable knit sweater, providing a stylish, modern edge. It pairs particularly well with the alpaca gilet, also by L’Envers. This gilet not only looks great but it is SO warm. If your budget stretches to it then I would highly recommend the investment. However if not, what works here is the cream on cream in different textures so if you are keen to replicate this look, that is what you need to bear in mind.
FYI - Mum is wearing a M in both the jumper and gilet and is a UK10 so I would say that they come up on the smaller side.
